Washing and Care

Washing and care methods vary depending on the material.
Here are care instructions for silk, cotton, polyester, rayon, and linen.

Silk

Silk has a unique luster and rich coloring, giving it an elegant and refined appearance.
Its soft texture and luxurious feel make it ideal for special occasions.
A representative type of silk is called "Chirimen" (Crepe de Chine). When made from 100% silk, it is also referred to as pure silk.

Dry clean only

  • The fabric may shrink when wet.
  • Please store it in a dark place, as exposure to sunlight can cause yellowing.
Ironing Use a pressing cloth and set the iron to medium heat (about 140–160°C).
Do not use steam.

Cotton, Organic cotton

Cotton is a familiar natural material that is durable, easy to tie, and becomes softer and more comfortable. It also has excellent absorbency and is easy to care for—making it suitable for home washing.

Please note: Organic cotton is not bleached, so small black specks from the cotton plant may remain in the fabric.

  • Please note that the material may melt at high temperatures.
  • The water repellency of the water-repellent furoshiki is designed to last for years, but if it weakens due to washing or friction, it can be partially restored by ironing, following the instructions above.

Rayon

Rayon has a luster and coloring similar to silk, but it is appreciated for daily use or gift wrapping thanks to its affordability. Rayon is often referred to as “artificial silk.”
